What is a cosmological simulation?

Quick explanation

A cosmological simulation is a comprehensive computer simulation of how the Universe and its galaxies evolves through time.

Just as, with a camera with a certain amount of pixels available, you must choose whether to take a close-up picture with high resolution or a panorama picture with low resolution, a cosmological simulation can choose to focus on simulating accurately either the large-scale structure of the Universets or the individual galaxies.
